Hello everyone, I wanted to take a moment to share with all of you the story behind Jackfruit Foundation, Inc. You can also catch the interview on our Podcast Page, on episode 8. During said interview, the founder shares all about the not-for-profit organization and her dedication to collecting new and used apparel.

Jackfruit Foundation

If you are familiar with the jackfruit, you know it has many wonders. Jackfruit is the largest tree-born fruit in the world. There are many ways to eat the fruit such as ripe or unripe and prepared an endless amount of ways. Many have shared, that the jackfruit has a taste of apple, pineapple, mango and bananas.

The name of the organization was selected in the hopes to be as diverse with respect to the assistance that can be provided, by a single organization. Currently the foundation has two ambassadors in Honduras facilitating the distribution of all items collected. Thus far, the response and support from all friends, family and donors has been outstanding. However, there is still a need for more help and plenty of room for growth.
Their ambassador, Ines, distributes the items at C.E.B. Celeo Arias, a school in Nacaome two hours south of the capital, Tegucigalpa.

They also have an ambassador named Katherine, located in San Pedro Sula, which is six hours north of the capital. Her focus is on “bordos,” which are communities where individuals and families live in homes made of mud, tin and/or scraps of wood.

FoundationThe foundation hopes to relieve the stress and anxiety of basic needs to all the people they are able to reach and connect with. For the future, they hope to provide scholarships to children who are excelling academically, but cannot afford tuition.
