Vacations have to be my all time favorite pass time. Every chance I get, I book a getaway, even if just for a couple of days. I find it as that special time to regroup my thoughts and refresh my mind.
Today I want to share a few incredible small town Summer Vacation getaways that will take your breath away. You will find great outdoor fun, unique attractions as well as amazing places to eat.
Have you heard of Cape Charles, Virginia? It is a super laid back community where you will feel completely stress free, just steps away from the ocean. You need to try the Cape Charles Hotel where the beds are so comfy, you’ll want to take them back home with you. However, there is a binder inside the room that reveals all the comfy secrets. 🙂
You will find friendly locals and exciting places to eat in this great town. The Shanty is known for its seafood baskets and energizing live music. There is also a sprawling pier and boardwalk where you can take in orange-pink sunsets. How does that sound?
The Crystal Coast, North Carolina, ooooh, what a gem. There’s nothing quite as charming as riding a vintage bike through Beaufort or simply going for a nice walk. There’s also the marvelous Diamond Lady Lighthouse which stands out against the gorgeous sunsets. However, your favorite way to spend a long weekend on the Crystal Coast could simply be kayaking while watching a group of wild mustang horses galloping dramatically across the pristine landscape.
What do you know about Branson, Missouri? Let me share that summer has to be the perfect time to set sail on Table Rock Lake. Here you can make unforgettable memories or maybe reminisce about your own childhood lake vacations. The Branson Belle dinner cruise is also supposed to be spectacular. Silver Dollar City may be known for its theme park, however you can’t miss out on the wonders of Marvel Cave, where you will soak up all its limestone glory.
This year Silver Dollar City is celebrating “The Year of Food and Crafts,” the only American theme park to have a cooking school on its grounds. Try staying in a log cabin at White River Lodge B&B where the sunrise views of Table Rock Lake are beyond dreamy. You will definitely feel like you are in paradise.
Ever thought of travelling to Connecticut? Well let me share that if you are ever visiting this northwestern Connecticut town known as Washington, CT, you must stay at the Mayflower Grace. While there, enjoy dazzling cuisine, enchanted landscaped gardens and woodlands, or a simple dip in the pool. Dying to conquer an adventure, then you must try the Art of Fly Fishing program at the nearby Housatonic River or head out to Mount Tom State Park for some beaching and hiking toward the summit’s lookout tower.
Lastly you don’t want to miss a tasty meal from G.W. Tavern. It’s a small detour yet the hand-painted murals you will see in this place will make your detour so worthwhile. 🙂
When we think New York, we all immediately think Manhattan. Well guess what, there are other beautiful cities in New York definitely worth visiting. For example, there is an unexpected gem right outside of New York City called the Mohonk Mountain House. This place glimmers in all its lakeside beauty like you would never imagine. Their all inclusive pricing makes dining and activity planning quite affordable, but whatever you do make sure not to miss out on a leisurely stroll through their beautifully kept gardens. Every day presents a giant schedule of events, classes, and activities, but if you can spare a little time, make sure to schedule a spa treatment, hopefully after taking a majestic hike.
If you are ever looking to explore outside their grounds, be sure to visit Huguenot Street, where time seems to stand still in a Hudson Valley community first settled in 1678. I love history and there you can enjoy tours, historic reenactments, and even tea time. You won’t regret this adventure.
Ahhh, and now my home state, Florida. What comes to mind when you think of this state? Let’s see, the Florida Keys, South Beach, Palm Beach, hmmm all wonderful cities but let’s give River Ranch, Florida a fair shot. This is Florida like you’ve never seen it before. Located about an hour south of Orlando, you will love the family-friendly Westgate River Ranch Resort & Rodeo, which manages to take you far away from conventional Sunshine State vacations. Explore your natural talent and new activities like trap and skeet shooting or archery before enjoying a swamp buggy ride and the property’s classic Saturday night rodeo.
You can stay in traditional camping sites or gorgeous cabins, but also consider their recently established teepees, where a designated concierge can deliver breakfast right to your feet. You won’t find the need to leave this ranch during your vacation, but driving to nearby Kissimmee Prairie Preserve State Park is always an option.
Writing about these wonderful places has made me want to begin searching for my next getaway. Let me book your next getaway as well. Plan a vacation to one of these beautiful places or maybe sail away on a magical cruise. Whatever your choice may be, let me know how I can be of further assistance.
